This real photograph postcard (no. J.S.-20) was one of several issued by J.J. Samuels of London for its postcard depots at 150 Strand and 97A Regent Street to commemorate the Drury Lane charity matinee in aid of the Lord Mayor's Cripples' Fund of 5 March 1907 which included A Prehistoric Lord Mayor's Show, a 'novelty' arranged by E.T. Reed with Edmund Payne, with music by Herman Finck, under the stage management of Lionel Belmore. A number of very well known actors and actresses appeared on this occasion, Mesdames Forsyth and Leonhardt being joined as Brass Finishers by Tessie Hackney.
