images of theatre and other popular entertainment
1850s-1920s
Opera House This letter, postmarked Cork, 6 May 1907, refers to a hospital cot, which was supported by charitable donations raised by Mr and Mrs Hayden Coffin. At the time Coffin was starring in the title role of the comic opera Tom Jones, which had opened at the Apollo Theatre, London, on 17 April 1907. Miss Studholme, meanwhile, was touring in the musical comedy My Darling, which had ended its relatively short run at the Hicks Theatre, London, on 25 April 1907.
