'No Specialty company on the road this season [1895] has had such overwhelming success as that known as the Trocadero Vaudevilles, and headed by the modern Samson, Sandow. Unlike many companies of this sort, the Sandow troupe does not rely exclusively upon the star who gives it its name; but each and every individual act and performances is superior in its or his own special line of work.'
(The New York Dramatic Mirror, Christmas Number, New York, 1895, p.72a)
